MARK
AMERIKA, an early pioneer of Internet Art, will visit the University of Texas at Dallas Feb. 23-25, 2005 to speak on "Experiments
in Interactive Narrative."
His lecture will be Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:30pm in the Jonsson Performance Hall (JO 2.604).
Mr. Amerika is a faculty candidate for a position in the Art and Technology Department. He is currently an Associate Professor of Digital Art at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In addition to teaching, he focuses his creative practices on investigating ways of using emergent media technologies to expand the concepts of art and writing. Drawing from a wide range of sources in the literary, visual, conceptual, sonic, interactive, and performance arts, his most significant contributions to the contemporary art discipline have been in the areas of digital narrative, electronic writing and publishing, hypertext practice and theory, live multi-media performance, and Internet (or net) art.
Mark Amerika's work researches the interrelationship between image, sound, text, interface design, critical theory, and programming codes that effect how art behaves in a computer environment. Because of the experimental nature of his work, he exhibits and lectures all over the world.
